Do I need a Curb Rash Repair Kit or just a bottle of Touch-Up Paint?

If you only have a small amount of cosmetic damage where only the paint on the surface of the wheel is scuffed, then you may be able to repair it with just a bottle of touch-up paint. If the damage is deeper, though, with scrapes or gouges that are deeper into the metal of the wheel, then we recommend using a Curb Rash Repair Kit that includes touch-up paint as well as a sanding block and sanding disks to smooth the rough edges before painting. If you're still not sure, then please feel free to contact us for help assessing the damage.

Will a Curb Rash Repair Kit work on my wheels?

In all but the most severe cases where there is a lot of metal material that's been removed from the wheel, a Curb Rash Repair Kit can likely be used to make your curb rash rim damage disappear. If you have scrapes that extend into the cosmetic face of the wheel, then sanding isn't recommended as it may damage the surrounding undamaged area of the wheel. Can I buy wheel touch-up paints in a spray can?

We do not sell our wheel touch-up paints in spray cans, but they are thin enough to be used with an air brush without the need to add thinner.

Can I use the touch-up paint with an air brush?

We use professional, automotive quality touch-up paints which can be brushed onto the wheel or sprayed. The paints are thin enough to use with an air brush, for example, without needing to add thinner to the paint.

Do I need to add clear coat after using the touch-up paint?

Our touch-up paints do not require a layer of protective layer of clear coat after applying the paint, although you can still add clear coat if you want added protection. As long as you properly clean and prep the damaged area of the wheel, then carefully add a few thin coats of touch-up paint, you should have no problems with the paint durability under normal conditions.

Do I need to use primer on the wheel before painting?

Our touch-up paints do not require a coat of primer before applying the paint. As long as you properly clean and prep the damaged area of the wheel before painting, you should have no problems with the paint properly adhering to the wheel.

This product is primarily intended for repairing the metal structural portion of the wheel and not plastic cosmetic center caps, lug nut covers, or hubcaps. Paint may not exactly match your wheel color, depending upon the condition of your wheel, time taken to clean and prepare the wheel, how carefully the paint is applied, and how many coats of paint are applied. Assumes that you have not coated or changed the color of your wheels.
